According to worldsteel statistics, in February 2017, the world’s 67 major steel-producing countries and regions produced 127 million tons of crude steel, a year-on-year increase of 4.1%, and a consecutive increase of 9 months.
In February, the EU 28 countries produced 13.28 million tons of crude steel, down 0.6% year-on-year; the CIS crude steel production was 8.07 million tons, which was basically the same as last year; North American crude steel production was 8.97 million tons, which was basically the same as the same period of last year; The crude steel production in South America was 3.21 million tons, an increase of 1.5%; the crude steel production in Asia was 86.21 million tons, an increase of 5.1%; the Middle East production was 2.35 million tons, an increase of 5.7%; the Africa production was 1.09 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 18.2% .
China's crude steel production in February was 61.19 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.6%. After deduction of China, global crude steel production in February was 65.39 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%. In February, the capacity utilization rate of global steel plants was 70.3%, which was 1.1 percentage points higher than that in January and 4 percentage points higher than that in February last year.
The average daily output of crude steel in the world in February was 4.53 million tons, an increase of 3% over the previous month. In March, the international steel market as a whole remained strong. The demand picked up seasonally. The operating rate of steel mills in various countries also continued to increase. It is expected that the global average daily production of crude steel will continue to increase month-on-month in March.
